Just saw the movie Heartland last night. Think I saw it when I was younger but not sure. I am a credit reader and as I read through the "thank yous" saw the character names listed. Which makes this film even MORE endearing-as I grew up on Little House on the Prairie and read the books. I love this time period and the strong people-especially women, who lived it. Sorry to see the homestead in such disrepair-I wish I could help but am unable at this time. Old places should "live on" and have the enduring dignity of the people who have lived in them. I am hoping the books are still in print. If not I will have to try the library. Thank you for the website and a glimpse of pioneer life! I wish I had really known a few years back because I have criss-crossed this country a few times and would have loved to have seen it in person. Like Mrs. Stewart, I LOVE that part of the country and I am glad a lot of it is still wild. But being a wimpy "easterner", even though raised with good stock, I might turn tail and run. She was quite a woman from what I saw portrayed in the film. Sorry for being so wordy but these thoughts are not easily said in 1 or 2 sentences. Thanks for letting me ramble.

I am listening to "Letters.....". Elinore was possessed with a good attitude, she seemed to see everything as the "cup half full instead of empty". She also seemed to have no fear. Taking horses and my young child and camping in the great beyond is beyond my resources for sure. Mr. Stuart was very lucky to acquire such a partner. This book makes me want to know more about Jerrine and the boys and what happened to them all?

After watching the movie "Heartland" for the third time, I googled Clyde and Elinore Stewart. What a treasure your site is! You must be so proud of the things your grandparents achieved through such hardship. Thank you for preserving their memories and legacys.
